Drala is the potential to communicate deeply (or one could say "sacredly") with life and can occur simply in the way we crack an egg, open a car door or think about a dream. Drala is also about courage; those who speak and walk their truth attract the dralas. We have a primordial connection - indeed a right – to the dralas, which are variously called the invisible world, ancestors, spirit or spirit guides, gods or God. We invoke the dralas when we take responsibility for the individual and collective challenges we face (huge ones!): how to protect or restore our environment, how to cooperate, how to wake up. www.westernmountain.org These are words from Western Mountain (Bill Scaffel) a poet, writer, documentary filmmaker and teacher.
We should study these words, we are all responsible for our world, but many of us feel safer and more comfortable in our own little cocoons and it is there we will stay - stagnant. Why do we do this? Why do we not reach out to the very needy of this world, the frightened, the confused, and the victims? Are we asleep, safe in our own dreams, how can humanity move forward to a better brighter world if we do not open our eyes and take in the real picture, see every moment in its entirety, good and bad.
We should be reaching out to those that seek knowledge. I am sure you have come across many people that are full of questions, they want answers, they want a reason, they want an explanation of why things are wrong and want a solution as to how they can help to put things right. The parent who disagrees with the way their child is educated, the parent who refuses the swine flu vaccination for their family and is harassed by health workers, the patient who questions the Doctors advise, the person who will not be scanned at the airport, the traffic violation fine for parking your wheel 2 inches on a yellow line, the bank charges that are mounted upon us every day, the plight of starving children, the corrupt governments of the world, the torture and abuse of children
, the controlled media not reporting on the real truth of situations. This is the world we live in – by ignoring injustice we assist in its continuity.
We need to open our eyes, the Dralas will be with us, they want to help, and they need to help. But if we don’t open our eyes and see what is really happening to our world how can the dralas assist us.
I am asking you to really look, to really see what is happening, and to connect with the dralas to help you make a difference for your families, your communities, your neighborhood, for your World. Please don’t shy away from what is in front of you, you know there are things to be done, you can help, you can make a difference. The main thing is NOT to be stagnant, not to ignore what is blatantly before you, how many nudges do we need before we loose our balance or we are pushed and topple over. It is well versed by many that we create our own reality, what kind of reality do you want? Really think about this.
I want a reality that embraces the truth and values my uniqueness, not a reality that dumbs me down, clones me into believing all that is said – how mundane would that be. I want to celebrate the uniqueness of us all, to show that we are individual with our own thoughts.
We have the tools to make this change; we can make a difference if only we emerge from our cocoons and face this challenge. We will be guided, we will be helped.
Go on break the mold, show the world how unique you are, question the rules we are governed by, look at things with more discerning eyes, communicate more deeply, take responsibility. You wont be alone, the Dralas are there to help.
