Spiritual work has been one of the greatest shocks of my life for two reasons, the first being that I had no idea that I was a Psychic Medium and Healer before I was 34 years old; which should inspire those who struggle to develop to keep going.
Yes, I was completely and utterly oblivious to the idea of contact with the Spirit World until I was a grown adult.
I did have one experience of ‘dreaming’ about my grandfather when I was 6. During the dream I saw my uncle Vic with him, who had died at the age of 4. Because my grandfather was distraught at the loss of a 3rd son in childhood he wouldn’t have Vic spoken about or any photographs around at home. My mother and grandmother were absolutely certain I’d never heard of him and yet I described him.
Because the field of Mediumship and Psychic work didn’t figure in our reality, my dream was dismissed as impressive but a bit weird and forgotten. So I bumbled along in my life not understanding myself and the way I was a lot of the time until the middle of a telephone call when I was 34 years old and suddenly Spirit came through to me with accurate, verifiable information.
No one was more surprised than me, in fact had it been possible to physically fall off a telephone I would have done I was so shocked.
The other reason that being a Spiritual worker has shocked me is because of the sheer joy it brings into your life. True, we do have to cope with the cynics who think we should all be shot, but I have to say that I’ve met many more lovely people than un-lovely ones. I’ve been to places I would never have been to had I not taken up this work (Sweden for one), and I’ve had experiences so wonderful that I could fill a book telling you about them.
However, the real reason I’m a Spiritual worker is because I believe through my own life experience that Spiritual beliefs can change the way you think, and therefore the way you approach the world. We all know that changing our approach also changes the outcome of our endeavours, and I have found that Spiritual thinking can create a positive and happy life out of chaos.
I started on this pathway at the age of 23, not as a Spiritual worker as I’ve already said, but as a person who had gone down so many wrong paths that I was caught in a labyrinth of normality with no torch and no way out. Through the help of a dear and much missed friend I found the way out, guided by him and then by Spirit Guides.
Even though life is sometimes hard and I don’t always get everything right, I still feel that I moved from being out of control of my life to a point where I don’t always enjoy every minute of every day, but I do enjoy 99% of my life and I feel more in charge of what happens to me.
Because of my own experience that tells me that my work goes far deeper than passing on a message from the Spirit realms or tuning into someone psychically, when I read I’m tuning in and asking my Guides to help me with their higher wisdom so that between us we can provide the inspiration to move people forward.
I read this way because I also know that our work shouldn’t become the next tranquilliser that helps to stave off reality, it should be the doorway through which people achieve happiness and empowerment through their own efforts and in doing so increase their inner strength and self respect. I know that everyone is capable of this, and I see myself as a doorkeeper to a sunnier existence.
When you know that you are the captain of your own ship and know that you can trust yourself it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, for other people to knock you off centre for long.
When you take responsibility for your life you are no longer a victim of others, even if they do something unkind to you it will be you who refuses to let that affect you and you who chooses to move past it. As George Herbert said, “living well is the best revenge”, and whilst revenge is never a good idea there is absolutely nothing wrong with living well.
